Parker Adventist Hospital Cancer Center

Parker, Colorado

Why

Connecting through experience of place.

In an effort to better serve the community of Parker, Colorado, Parker Adventist Hospital ventured to create a radiation oncology care unit from the ground up.

How

Ever curious. Ever learning. Ever improving.

The design team worked with hospital administration to create a unique design aesthetic for the outpatient cancer center so that it would stand out from the rest of the inpatient hospital. RTA also intentionally designed the outpatient center to inspire inspiration and hope in patients as they recover.

What

Purposeful, engaging solutions.

RTA designed a new state-of-the-art radiation therapy suite to house a linear accelerator vault for a Varian TrueBeam Accelerator. The new suite also has a CT simulator, 8 exam rooms, staff work space, a dosimetry room, and additional space reserved for a future vault.

The team at RTA was able to help Parker Adventist overcome many technical obstacles, including the construction of a structural floor inside the hospital that had been left out during the original construction. Creative use of limited space allowed RTA to accommodate the lofty goals determined for the new radiation oncology unit.

These challenges formed a cancer center focused on guiding cancer patients on their journey to recovery. With the inclusion of warm welcoming finishes that create a clean, comfortable environment for patients and family, as well as inspirational sculptures interwoven within the architecture, patients are assisted in their journey to becoming cancer survivors.
