The Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center has been honored with a Design Award of Merit and Sustainability Recognition from AIA Colorado! We're honored to share this recognition with our design partner, GWWO Architects and Pikes Peak America's Mountain.

The AIA Colorado Annual Design+ Awards honor the most outstanding work of AIA Colorado members. The awards underscore the value of exceptional architecture and recognize members' significant contributions to the community.

This landmark structure was built to endure the harsh conditions found at high elevations and limit its impact on the environment. For a location where resources are so precious, the project team saw an opportunity to provide an environmentally responsible solution with a net positive impact on the mountain, the region, and the planet. The project’s pursuit of the Living Building Challenge exemplifies what is possible. The center makes a compelling case for resource conservation, illustrating the ideals of responsible stewardship to a broad audience.
