RTA designed the heart of Glenwood Meadows Shopping Center as Market Street – strategically placed to enhance pedestrian shopping activity with large retail anchors.
Shoppers access Market Street through “pedestrian alleys.” Masonry materials, transom storefronts, and a variety of awning and canopy types help create a street shopping experience. Traditional roof forms, alley canopies, and two-story building elements combine to screen rooftop clutter from neighborhood vantages above the site.
A pedestrian plaza terminates Market Street to the north, complete with a “spring-like“ stone water feature and quiet lawn area. A free standing tower is the focal element of the project and identifying icon for the center.

Glenwood Meadows is an annexed subdivision of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, a region with a heritage founded in mining, agriculture, tourism, and well-known hot springs. The picturesque setting at the base of Red Mountain is highly visible from Interstate-70 and the Colorado River to the north.
The project architecture gets its inspiration from the local and regional vernacular. Essential project components such as arcades, towers, fountains, paving patterns, and lighting are instrumental to the total shopping experience.
From the initial site planning to the attention and constructability of the smallest of details, RTA is committed to the overall human experience.
