St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center replaced a large portion of the hospital to the west end of the campus. Extensive site work, demolition, and reworking of vehicular access was required. The initial phase of the project provided for a new main entry/lobby and patient registration area. The existing Emergency Department was abandoned and an entirely new department provided. Diagnostic imaging was completely rebuilt and the existing surgery area expanded to provide new pre-op and post-op space for the outpatient surgery program. Each of the upper four floors consists of a thirty-six bed (private) medical surgical unit, and new 20-bed intensive care unit was provided.
A new Cancer Center consisting of radiation therapy (3 accelerator vaults), medical oncology clinical space, and needed support space will also include space for the Tumor Registry, as well as providing a new home for the American Cancer Society. This project is in collaboration with ESa.
